It has an aura of modernity, an old-school charm, a whisk of culture and a certain kind of vintage charm to it. You can love it, you can hate it! But once you stay in Delhi, you can never leave it. That is Delhi in a nutshell for you. And thus, for obvious reasons, this city has been a favourite among a lot of Bollywood directors to shoot their movies, most of which turn out to be super-duper hits. Hence, we decided to bring to you a list of movies that were a treat to watch and showcased various aspects of this beautiful city in them.

Set in Old Delhi’s area, Chandni Chowk, this film gave us the real essence of the city’s oldest habitations that have still been beautifully preserved.

Be it Janakpuri ki galiyaan, Delhi University’s cool life, Sainik Farm’s bungalows or anything else, this movie had almost the entire city covered in it, along with the headstrong attitude of two diehard dilliwalas!

One of the biggest superhit films of 2015, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, too shows the charming and beautiful Old Delhi in a major part of it.

A very popular film amongst the youth, it showed us what all the street-smart dilliwale ladke will do to get into a college with no good marks on their report cards. One hell of a laugh riot indeed!

Showing us the galiyaan of Lajpat Nagar, the dating hubs of Connaught Place, and the nightlife of Delhi, Vicky was one hell of a true to his core, Delhi dude!

Inspired by a real-life “super-chor” from West Delhi, this movie depicted the story of a poor boy growing up to become a fearless and smart thief. And of course, as he robbed mostly in Delhi, you get to see a lot of parts of the city in this movie.

The super-cool campus life of Delhi, power of the agitated youth, the outcomes and changes that they can bring about, the corrupt system, and a lot more such things were portrayed beautifully in this film! A masterpiece in every sense!
#9. Love Aaj Kal

A turning point in the trend of movies today, this film was one heck of a must-watch. Chor bazari truly showed us what a beauty this city is, and Deepika’s restoration projects took us into the architectural heritage that has been preserved for centuries.
#10. Tanu Weds Manu Returns

The part from where Ms. Ranaut takes our breaths away! Yes, we are referring to the entry of Kusum in the film and the cool campus of Delhi University that is shown in it.

In a hope to find his pendant that would take him back home, our alien friend, PK, comes to Delhi and meets Anushka Sharma. The rest as you saw is history. See how lucky Delhi was for an alien too? Not to forget, it also was one of the highest grossers of the year.

#13. Dil Dosti Etc

This one was also a true replica of the Delhi University student elections and all the politics, crime, sex and conspiracy involved in it.
#14. 3 Idiots

How can we talk about Delhi and not mention this one! Set on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller, this film showed the truly beautiful places of the city. And, from the campus life to the friendship bonds, the movie was a true reflection of Delhi’s lifestyle!

Be it the C-grade Cinema halls, the life of a struggling Delhiite musician, the shady streets of the city, or the Delhi University campus, this one had it all under one roof.
#16. Khosla Ka Ghosla

Along with everything nice, the city is also famous for illegal possession of property, gundagardi and dadagiri. If you need to know more, this film is what you need to see. Showcasing each and every aspect impeccably well, this too is a true reflection of the darker side of Delhi and NCR.

Shot equally in Delhi and Mumbai, the Delhi part of this powerful woman-oriented movie shows us the real power of an Indian policewoman and the true sex and girl-selling rackets that go on in the city. Sad, but true! And, films like these are an eye-opener for us all to be safe, cautious and alert.
#18. Delhi Belly

The name has it, so the movie has to have it, right? And, this one was one of its kinds with all the dirty politics of the city’s nooks and corners shown in it.

This was a jhalak of all the beautiful, rich and gorgeous shopaholic fashionistas that Delhi is also famous for, among other things. Revolved around the life of an upper-class Delhi girl, it also showed one of the luxury malls of the city, DLF Emporio.

The first half of this Saifeena-starrer film was shot in the capital covering the beautiful roads of Rajpath, the Humayun’s tomb and the central part of the city.
#21. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

Remember the song Choomantar? A substantial part of this movie too was shot in Delhi, where Imran and Katrina discover the city in a day covering all that they can.
#22. Ek Tha Tiger

Again, not entirely, but a major part of the film was shot here, which also happened to be an important one showing us how the secret services of the nation actually functions.

From Qutub Minar to other tourist spots, the first half of the movie was shot in Delhi showcasing all the major historical monuments.
